A Commissioned Oil Portrait Painting

I took this oil portrait on as a commission earlier in the year. I hadn’t painted a portrait in 18 years so I had to ‘brush’ up on a few things. Pun intended! The most challenging area to paint wasn’t the face but rather the uniform. I had first painted this as a sepia based painting and then started building up the tones in the painting. So who knows! you may just see some more oil paintings here.
This photograph does no justice to the original painting as the colours are too saturated and bright here. Also, it’s a bit skewed as you can tell by the wooden stand. If I get a better picture I will surely post it
